HBIS Starts up Slab Caster from Primetals Technologies Utilized for Green Automotive-Exposed Steel
Chinese steel producer HBIS XuanHua Iron and Steel Group and Primetals Technologies have recently started up a slab caster with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons at a low-carbon-emission production facility in China. Primetals Technologies supplied the full mechanical scope along with complete Level 1 and 2 automation systems.

€1.8 Million Research Grant for Sequence Impulse Hydrogen Project to Decarbonize Blast Furnaces
A research project to establish decarbonization technologies for the steelmaking industry, with Primetals Technologies as an associated partner, has been awarded a €1.8 million research grant from the European Union (EU) via the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS). The program aims to establish a process for injecting hydrogen using the Sequence Impulse Process (SIP) technology directly into the blast furnace via the shaft.

Primetals Technologies Receives Modernization Order for Elval’s Cold Rolling Mill in Greece
Aluminum producer Elval, which forms the aluminum rolling division of ElvalHalcor SA, has placed an order with Primetals Technologies to upgrade its drive system at a 6-high cold rolling mill in Oinofyta, Greece. The modernization will increase reliability and resolve availability issues mainly caused by an obsolete drive system.

Marcegaglia’s Partnership with Primetals Technologies to Result in Significant Productivity Improvements
Marcegaglia Stainless Sheffield, based in the UK, has partnered with Primetals Technologies to optimize production processes across its Sheffield minimill. The modernization project aims to significantly increase the plant's annual production capacity from 250,000 tons to 500,000 tons.
