Liberty Steel Galati orders new MULPIC system for heavy plate mill line in Romania
In April 2023, Primetals Technologies received an order from Liberty Galati for a new Multi-Purpose Interrupted Cooling (MULPIC) system and a water treatment plant that will be implemented at its heavy plate mill line in Romania. Sandip Biswas, CEO of Liberty Primary Steel and Mining, says: "This state-of-the-art accelerated cooling installation represents another milestone in Liberty Galati's strategy to expand its portfolio of high value-added products."

Excellent performance figures from new stainless steel plant in China
A Chinese joint venture grants final acceptance certificate (FAC) for two argon-oxygen decarburization (AOD) converters, two desiliconization (DeSi) converters, two continuous slab casters, and process optimization systems. All equipment has been implemented successfully, with performance figures exceeding the customer’s expectations.

Primetals Technologies and Hydnum Steel join forces for new green steel production plant in Spain
In June 2023, Hydnum Steel and Primetals Technologies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the intention to implement a greenfield plant for green steel production in Puertollano, Spain. Primetals Technologies will supply a minimill for flat products, including an electric steelmaking plant and an Arvedi ESP line, in Phase 1.

Gerdau tasks Primetals Technologies with engineering and supply of one-of-a-kind power solution
Primetals Technologies has won a contract to provide the Gerdau Petersburg plant in Virginia, U.S.A., with a 69-kV static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) to support the operation of the plant’s alternating current electric arc furnace (AC EAF). Once commissioned, it will be the largest industrial STATCOM ever implemented at a steelmaking plant in North America.

Chinese steel producer starts up combined billet and beam-blank caster supplied by Primetals Technologies
Chinese steel producer Maanshan Iron and Steel, also known as Masteel, recently started up a 6-strand combined billet and beam-blank caster supplied by Primetals Technologies at its steel plant in Maanshan, Anhui province, China. The project included a complete casting machine and lasted just 13 and a half months from the kick-off meeting until the first cast.
