Primetals Technologies has recently received the final acceptance certificate (FAC) for digital assistant systems at SSAB’s Hämeenlinna plant in Finland. These systems are Primetals Technologies’ first-ever implementations of digitalization solutions for coil identification and for the detection of pickling defects. The systems will identify surface quality issues, resulting in a reduced number of production interruptions caused by, for example, strip breakages.

Blastr Green Steel is an Oslo-based company with the mission to set new standards in green steel production. It has selected Primetals Technologies as technological partner for a DRI plant, an electric steelmaking meltshop, an Arvedi ESP line, and a continuous pickling and galvanizing line.

Primetals Technologies has recently implemented the world’s largest push-pull pickling line (PPPL) at Chinese steel producer HBIS Tangsteel’s steel plant in Laoting, Hebei province, China. The core aim of Primetals Technologies’ push-pull pickling line is to enable an extraordinarily wide product range in terms of strip dimension, steel grade properties, and production capacity.

China Steel Corporation (CSC) has signed a contract with Primetals Technologies for a pickling line and tandem cold mill upgrade at its plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Startup is scheduled for September 2025.

Brazilian steel producer Usiminas has recently granted the provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) to Primetals Technologies for the modernization of Usiminas’ welding machine at a steel plant in the city of Ipatinga, located in the south-eastern part of Brazil. Thanks to the new solution, the availability and operational functionality of the welding machine has been improved.
