Primetals Technologies is supporting the Finnish stainless steel producer Outokumpu in replacing the existing cycloconverter drive control system and power section for stand No. 2 at the stainless direct-reduction, annealing, and pickling line (DRAPL) at its production site in Tornio, Finland.

Chinese steel producer Tangshan Quanfeng has signed a maintenance services contract with Primetals Tangshan Technology Services (PTTS). Over the last three years, PTTS has provided Quanfeng with high-quality offline services for the entire thin-slab caster at its plant located in Tangshan, Hebei province, China. Thanks to the quality of the maintenance work, Quanfeng could achieve higher productivity, develop additional steel grades, and produce steels of higher quality.

Brazilian steel producer Gerdau recently implemented a comprehensive process optimization and quality control solution from Primetals Technologies at the continuous slab caster No. 3 in its integrated steel plant in Ouro Branco, Brazil. The new systems are operated on virtualized servers through a software subscription model.

In Autumn 2022, Bosnian steel producer ArcelorMittal Zenica started up a new 125-ton LD converter (BOF), supplied by Primetals Technologies, at its plant in Zenica, Bosnia Herzegovina. As part of the project, engineers at Primetals Technologies have optimized the vessel shape, resulting in an increase in converter reaction volume by almost 30 percent.
