A new system to monitor key parameters of an electric arc furnace has had its first global sale after a successful pilot installation in Germany.

From June 16 to 20, 2015 Primetals Technologies will be presenting itself to industry experts for the first time at the METEC in Düsseldorf, the world's leading trade show for the metals industry.

voestalpine Stahl GmbH, an Austrian steel producer, has ordered three robot systems from Primetals Technologies. They will manipulate the probes in the three LD (BOF) converters in the Linz steel works.

This new type of electric arc furnace, to be installed in the Cremona steel works, reduces specific conversion costs of electric steel production by around 20 percent and will have an annual production capacity of up to 1.57 million metric tons of crude steel.

Zenith Steel (Changzhou Zhongtian Iron & Steel) in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, has signed a contract with Primetals Technologies to revamp a complete wire-rod outlet to improve the quality and range of its products.
