Brazilian aluminum producer Novelis do Brazil Ltda. has commissioned Primetals Technologies to modernize the automation system installed in its hot strip mill in Pindamonhangaba in the state of São Paulo.

Chinese steel producer Rizhao Steel Group Co., Ltd (Rizhao) awarded Primetals Technologies the final acceptance certificate (FAC) for three of a total of five Arvedi ESP lines. For two of the lines, the FACs where received in January, for the third one on April 1.

ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. has given Primetals Technologies an order to replace LD (BOF) converters #1 and #3 in its Dąbrowa Górnicza steel works. The new converters will have a tapping weight of 325 metric tons and the project will be executed on a turnkey basis.

At the end of January, a new acoustic monitoring system was brought into operation in the secondary dedusting plant 3.1. at voestalpine Stahl GmbH in Linz, Austria.

Ordering a second mill identical to one supplied to the Southwire Company, LLC of Carrollton, Georgia, USA by Primetals Technologies in 2010, Ningbo Jintian Copper (Group) Co. Ltd. has signed a contract with Southwire for an SCR 3000 copper rod mill. The new mill will operate in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. Start up is expected in the fall of 2017.
